Quote of the Day 9/26/11

Today’s quote comes from the very funny and very dead Mitch Hedburg. I was listening to his CD the other day and I remember how much I love his style of comedy and thought this was appropriate.

“I like vending machines, because snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at the store, oftentimes I will drop it so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential.”
–Mitch Hedburg
I'm glad he didn't live to see Kinko's sell out. "FedEx Office" is a shitty punchline.

Quote of the Day 9/19/11

Today’s quote comes from American novelist and painter (and Patrick Stewart look alike), Henry Miller. Cullen and I always used to make fun of my dad for his obsession with ketchup. He put it on everything–eggs, macaroni and cheese (blasphemy, in my opinion), fries, meats, fish, etc. My cousin Lacie used to eat ketchup packets straight, not even bothering to put them on anything (which kind of explains a lot).

“Americans will eat garbage provided you sprinkle it liberally with ketchup.”
Henry Miller
Seriously. Slap a red shirt on him, and you'd think he was Jean-Luc Picard.

Quote of the day 9/13/11

In honor of my birthday today, I'm posting the quote of the day on Tuesday instead of Monday. I've also picked a quote by a french chef, Alain Ducasse who, as it so happens, is also celebrating a birthday today.  Happy birthday to us!

“Desserts are like mistresses. They are bad for you. So if you are having one, you might as well have two.”

-- Chef Alain Ducasse

You just can't argue with that kind of logic.

Quote of the Day 9/5/11

Today's quote comes from none other than "Dr. Love," Leo Buscaglia. I find it to be especially appropriate since I've spent the last 4 hours cutting garlic into different shapes. I'm pretty sure my hands are going to smell like garlic for the rest of forever. Which is arguably not a bad thing.

“There are many miracles in the world to be celebrated and, for me, garlic is the most deserving.”
-- Leo Buscaglia

...or "Dr. Garlic Breath" as he was known to his friends.
